“Did You Ever Have to Make Up Your Mind” – Lovin’ Spoonful
Today’s song is one of those oldies that apply to any generation, as it’s all about finding the right relationship and getting it right. Not so easy.
The Spoonful was essentially a folk/rock/blues/jug band playing “feel-good” music. They came up through the coffee houses in Greenwich Village in the 60’s and broke onto the national scene July 1965 with “Do You Believe in Magic”. Today’s selection was released in 1966, & moved to #2 in the charts. 1966 also brought their #1 hit “Summer in the City”, which is still one of my all-time favorites.
They were a short-lived band, only playing and recording together from 1965 until their break-up in 1969, but I think they contributed to the contemporary music on the cusp of going psychedelic and electric.
Most of the songs on their 9 albums are pretty sweet and innocent by today’s standards, but they are great to sing along with and whistle! Enjoy.
