“Artsy Remix (feat. The Grouch)” – edIT
Today’s song is an edIT remix of “Artsy”, a song by The Grouch from his 2008 album Show You The World. The original song is awesome, and edIT succeeds in making it even more so in his reboot.
The Grouch is a rapper/producer from Oakland, but based out of Maui, and he is also one of the founding members of the hip-hop collective The Living Legends. Born Corey Scoffern, The Grouch is a self-described workaholic, and over the past fifteen years has released ten solo projects, as well as numerous collaborations with other artists, including Living Legends, Zion I, and Eligh.
Edward Ma, known to the world as edIT, is an electronic music producer/DJ and a member of The Glitch Mob. Ma was introduced to music production while attending school at The University of Southern California. He began hosting at the Koncrete Jungle under his first DJ name, The Con Artist, in the late 90’s. He then moved on to producing music for a variety of underground hip-hop artists. In 2004 he released his first edIT album Crying Over Pros For No Reason in 2004, followed by his sophomore album Certified Air Raid Material in 2007.
This song skewers a certain type of people, and I think we can all relate to the lyrics and their indignant feel. If you’re feeling a little lackluster today, feel free to borrow some attitude from The Grouch as he’s got it in excess on this track. Enjoy!
