Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band –
This song was written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong for the Motown label in 1969, and recorded by Whitfield with The Temptations as the original vocalists. It was later released Edwin Starr and was a number-one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1970. Springsteen performed it in his 1985 tour. It became one of the most popular protest songs ever recorded. Given the circumstances around the globe today, this song is as appropriate now as it was in the 60’s. You will find two versions here today, Springsteen’s and Starr’s.
All we are saying is give peace a chance.
